Every year, Winter Hatches organizes a Fly Tying Symposium. We bring together some of the best people available to coach you in the art of fly-tying. It’s an opportunity to meet fly-tying aficionados from across Ontario and elsewhere. People come to learn, exchange ideas and swap fishing stories.
The 2010 Symposium brings a partial change from the format that has been customary for us. We are pleased to offer a unique and different variation this year.
We are, as usual, offering a Beginners' Class that provides a thorough introduction to tying essential flies for Ontario fish. You will learn about attractor flies, nymphs, streamers and dry flies.
We are also presenting a seminar that focusses not just on how to tie some really neat flies, but also offers advice on how to fish them. Ontario's premier guide, fly tyer and racconteur, Ian Colin James, has created a unique session just for this year's Symposium. We are exceedingly grateful that we can count on Ian's support again this year. It's certain: if you attend his session, you will leave not only with spirits lifted by Ian's unique sense of humour, but also armed with new patterns and tactics you can use on the water.
